How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Since June 2021.
Why did you choose to go carbon neutral?
We seek to transform and inspire healthier eco-friendly communities by connecting businesses with compostable packaging solutions.
Our philosophy and culture are to care for future generations, by applying good business practices today.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
The pledge and benefits of being carbon neutral certified for Packwise is to help people reduce waste and carbon emissions to achieve their sustainability objectives.
We want to take a leadership position by joining other Climate Active certified organisations in the transition towards a low carbon economy and help our customers make business decisions that support a reduction in waste.
What offset projects do you support?
A cookstove project in Africa and a forestry project in South Australia.
Why did you choose these projects?
We chose the cookstove project as we are eager to contribute to the social benefits for women, as well as being able to see the positive environmental outcomes which will follow from our support. This project helps to improve the health of women and children and supports rural communities to reduce poverty and provide energy efficiency.
We chose to support the forestry project as the organisation who is overseeing this project is located close to where we do business. The project helps reverse deforestation through restoring habitats for native wildlife and improving in the condition of soil and water.
How can the community support you?
We produce awareness of the impact food packaging has on the environment by providing our community with compostable solutions. Additionally, this reduces the negative repercussions food packaging has on the environment. Therefore by using our products, the community is able make environmentally sound decisions whilst also supporting our companies mission.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
Our Australian operations are already very low in carbon emissions and we aim to reduce that further wherever we can.
Our corporate responsibility helps build relationships and inspire positive sustainable and climate active changes. Furthermore, it aids in creating opportunities and helps to impact culturally diverse communities within which we live and work.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
Here at Packwise, we want to spread optimism that the transformation to healthier eco-friendly communities can be achieved through connecting businesses and promoting Climate Active carbon neutral certification. We strongly encourage other organisations to follow our lead and do whatever they can to contribute to saving our planet and the people living in it.
