Guidance and standards
- The Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG) publishes comprehensive standards, frameworks and guidance to measure and manage greenhouse gas emissions from private and public sector operations.
- The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) aims to set and maintain a global standard for high integrity in the voluntary carbon market. Learn more about their Core Carbon Principles (CCPs).
- Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) helps businesses and organisations set ambitious emissions reduction targets.
Making environmental claims
- The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) provides guidance to help businesses comply with Australian Consumer Law, including by avoiding false or misleading environmental and sustainability claims.
- The Australian Accounting Standards Board (AASB) sets Australian reporting standards, including AASB S2, which adopts and tailors the international IFRS S2 climate disclosure standard for use in Australia.
- ASIC administers and enforces Australia’s sustainability reporting regime, including overseeing compliance with AASB S2 disclosures and taking action where information is misleading or non‑compliant.
