“The certification is recognition of our efforts to embed carbon reduction initiatives across our operating business and to support our staff who want to feel like what they’re doing matters.”
Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Why did you choose to go carbon neutral?
QE actively seeks to leave things better than we found them. Sustainability is at our very core where we regenerate and create exemplar green office buildings for our tenants and the community. This approach future proofs our investments, providing a strong return for our investors. Therefore it was important to apply this same philosophy to our operating business by becoming carbon neutral.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
The certification is recognition of our efforts to embed carbon reduction initiatives across our operating business and to support our staff who want to feel like what they’re doing matters by working with an organisation that cares for the broader community and environment.
What offset projects do you support?
A rice husk thermal energy generation project in Vietnam.
Why did you choose this project?
QE has invested in an offset project that provides economic, social and environmental benefits to communities as well as reducing emissions, which is aligned closely to how QE approaches its property regeneration and development. The project prevents the release of methane into the atmosphere and reduces local environmental problems such as river congestion and ecological damage.
How can consumers support you?
Our aim is to provide continued financial security for our investors, improve the communities in which we operate and live in, and be at the forefront of sustainable business practice globally. By actively supporting like-minded organisations, consumers drive the demand for positive change.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
Initiatives to further promote climate positive actions include :
- updating our corporate travel policy to reduce interstate and regional travel through the use of our new IT platform / MS Teams
- implementing improved recycling services in our office
- improving operation efficiency by using online platforms and a continuous improvement approach on processes embedded across the business.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
Certification is a process that needs to be aligned with your business vision. At QE we want to leave things better than we found them. Therefore becoming carbon neutral is a small but important step towards continually striving towards this.
