Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Since March 2021.
Why did you choose to go carbon neutral?
We hope to encourage other businesses in the construction and property space to undertake carbon neutral certification and want to lead by example.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
As a Climate Active organisation, Ark Resources is increasingly looking at ways to further reduce our footprint and we identified new opportunities to engage further with our employees and clients to prepare and improve our industry’s impact in the face of the climate emergency.
What offset projects do you support?
A savanna burning project in Australia.
Why did you choose this project?
The entire Ark Resources team wanted to support a project in Australia and were particularly keen to support a project that directly benefits the local Indigenous community in addition to the obvious environmental benefits of preventing significant late-season wildfires.
How can the community support you?
By working with us and placing sustainability and climate resilience at the heart of your building project.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
At Ark Resources we are actively working with our clients and partners in the construction sector towards the goal of achieving carbon neutrality.
To demonstrate our commitment to tackling the climate crisis head-on, we have become a CitySwitch Green Office signatory, taken Victoria’s TAKE2 Climate Change Pledge and along with other engineers declared a Climate and Biodiversity Emergency. We are also in the process of becoming a certified B-Corp.
What has been the impact of your action?
Through our purchase of 100% Green Power for our office, we reduced our emissions from electricity by approximately 33% in our base year.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
It’s easy to get started and it sends a message that businesses need to start looking to the future and contribute to tackling the climate emergency.
