Brand Architects is committed to the delivery of innovative architecture with an environmental and social conscience. Our projects aim to reflect and promote the aspirations of the community they serve. As a key player in the development of the built environment, we consider the ethical concerns of space-making in a global climate emergency and incorporate sustainable best practice in designing buildings that are future-focused and contextually informed.
“You can’t change what you don’t measure, going carbon neutral is a great step towards reducing your business’ impact on the environment.”
Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Since April 2021.
Why are you carbon neutral?
A commitment to carbon neutral operations ensures our practice upholds its social and environmental responsibility in creating a sustainable built environment for the future.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
Our carbon neutral certification formalises our contribution to climate change mitigation efforts and acts as a conscious reminder of our duty to protect our environment as we work hard delivering socially and environmentally conscious construction projects across Victoria.
What offset projects do you support?
A savanna burning project in the Tiwi Islands, and a forest conservation project in South Australia stapled to a wind power project in China.
Why did you choose these projects?
Brand Architects chose to support local projects with a range of co-benefits.
The conservation project in South Australia protects one of the last pockets of bush and wetlands in a region that has been largely cleared for agriculture. Our investment helps to ensure the permanent protection for a regionally and culturally important pocket of biodiversity-rich land in partnership with its Traditional Owners.
Our second offset project, in the Tiwi Islands, located at the northern coast of the Northern Territory, allows the Traditional Owners, the Tiwi people to earn carbon credits from their fire management. Beside the greenhouse gas emissions reductions and active fire management, the income from the project also helps provide support to develop sustainable livelihood opportunities for Tiwi people that meet their economic, environmental, and cultural needs.
How can the community and consumers support you?
If you would like your next architectural project to be designed using environmental and socially conscious principals, choose an architect that cares about protecting the environment and who is making a formal contribution to climate change mitigation efforts.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
Brand Architects seek to continuously reduce the greenhouse gas emissions associated with our operations.
Over 30% of our carbon footprint comes from purchased electricity which is why our focus is on reducing power consumption and switching to renewable energy. We have commenced the purchase 100% Green Power which will significantly lower our base carbon footprint in future years.
What has been the impact of our action?
We now have a baseline and an action plan to further reduce our emissions over the next two years.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
You can’t change what you don’t measure, going carbon neutral is a great step towards reducing your business’ impact on the environment.
