Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Cromwell achieved Climate Active certification in 2020.
Why are you carbon neutral?
Cromwell recognises the need to protect the environment so that we can meet the needs of current and future generations. We are dedicated to a process of continuous improvement across our business and Climate Active certification provides us with the forum to independently verify we are maintaining that commitment.
What are the benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
Carbon neutral certification puts an alternate value against goods and services and has the effect of re-engaging staff to consider our corporate expenditure not just as an impact to our balance sheet, but the effect of our choices on the future of our community.
What offset projects do you support?
A wind power project in India, and a Northern Savanna project and a Tasmanian native forest project in Australia.
Why did you choose these projects?
Cromwell prioritises projects which resonate with personnel as a way of showing appreciation for the reduction efforts undertaken by the group. The Northern Savanna and Tasmanian native forest projects were highlighted as opportunities to support following the 2019/2020 summer wild fires.
How can the community support you?
Our aim is to provide continued financial security for our investors, improve the communities in which we operate, and be at the forefront of sustainable business practice globally. By actively supporting like-minded organisations, consumers drive the demand for positive change.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
Cromwell exclusively purchase carbon neutral office paper, reducing the year on year emissions produced by this item by 13 per cent. We investigated the cause of increased electricity consumption in the Brisbane office and implemented measures accordingly. A corporate travel policy was developed, to encourage the use of public transport and minimise air travel.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
Embedding sustainability throughout your business culture and processes is critical to enabling reduction initiatives to be organically received by staff.
