At FMI Works, we are experts in facilities management solutions. Our software solutions are designed, developed and delivered in Australia. Built with the end user in mind, we support facility managers who want to streamline their operations and manage information more efficiently.
We help those wanting to do better, create efficiencies, reduce operational and financial risk, and create a better facility for their end users. We partner with clients long-term, to ensure the solution evolves and scales with them over time.
Our solutions replace paper-based processes and give facility managers a single source of truth for facility data.
“Carbon neutrality is an integral part of our operating methods. It is part of our commitment to taking responsibility for our impact on the environment.”
Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Since November 2021.
Why did you choose to go carbon neutral?
At FMI Works, our solutions enable customers to reduce their environmental impact, through a reduced reliance on paper and physical space, and optimised asset lifecycle management.
Carbon neutrality is an integral part of our operating methods. It is part of our commitment to taking responsibility for our impact on the environment.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
At FMI Works, one of our core values is to inspire improvement. Becoming carbon neutral allows us to serve as an example for our customers, being not just a product that facilitates a move towards carbon neutrality, but who has themselves accomplished this.
The carbon neutral certification is a tangible way for staff to connect to a community goal and a shared purpose, and we expect it to assist with employee engagement.
What offset projects do you support?
A land conservation project in South Australia and a wind project in Taiwan.
Why did you choose these project?
The land conservation project promotes partnerships for conservations between traditional landowners and non-indigenous Australians. Through this all-important relationship, EcoAustralia aligns closely with our values of building relationships, inspiring improvement, and enabling success.
The work they do is critical for conservation of both the biodiversity and cultural importance of the Mount Sandy site.
How can the community and customers support you?
As a part of a community working towards a carbon neutral future, we trust that community to make every effort to reduce their environmental footprint.
We urge consumers to align expenditure to their environmental values, and choose to work with, or purchase from, providers who are taking steps towards a better future.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
In line with our software product, one of our own business initiatives is to reduce business waste and improve recycling. We are moving towards a completely paperless future and occupying only the space we truly need.
We support flexible work options with an emphasis on a remote working model that reduces the need for face to face meetings and allows each team member to regularly and effectively work from home. Facilitating virtual meetings also reduces the need for interstate travel.
The use of co-working spaces and hot desking allows us to use only the space we need. Our offices are centrally located, to ensure public transportation is accessible and preferred to private vehicles.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
The certification process is a significant undertaking (as it should be), and so we encourage any potential applicants to do their research on what is involved before commencement. To maintain certification requires buy-in from staff, so the education process is essential to ensuring you have organisation-wide support for your efforts.
