Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Since March 2021.
Why did you choose to go carbon neutral?
Goodtel believes all businesses have a key role to play in helping to protect the planet and our environment. As Australia’s ethical telco, it is our mission to get people using their telco as a force for good and becoming carbon neutral further demonstrates our commitment to achieving this.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
The main benefit will be knowing our carbon emission output is being offset. Our staff are also very passionate about tackling environmental issues and were engaged in the decision-making process about which project we would offset our carbon emissions with.
What offset projects do you support?
A savanna burning project in the Tiwi Islands.
Why did you choose this project?
Goodtel wanted to offset with this project as not only does it support a green objective, but also supports an Indigenous cause at the same time – it was the perfect choice for us.
How can consumers support you?
By simply switching to Goodtel. Goodtel gives 50% of its profits back to good causes that help protect the planet and those in needs. Choose to reduce your carbon footprint, prevent food wastage, or care for abandoned animals plus several other causes that you are passionate about.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
Goodtel already has a very low carbon footprint. Where possible we will use carbon neutral products and services and promote carbon neutral certification to our suppliers.
Our shared office-space is designed to be environmentally conscious and is powered by renewable energy. We also plan to engage our employees (most of whom work from home) by encouraging them to install solar and will continue to suggest ideas for carbon reduction.
We also offer a complementary service to customers where we recycle old modems to help reduce landfill.
Finally, two of the charity partners we give a portion of our profits back to have a direct impact tackling environmental issues.
What has been the impact of your action?
This is our first year of certification, however we always have and always will be conscious of our environmental impact.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
All businesses should aim to achieve a carbon neutral or carbon positive status to play its part in tackling climate change and helping to protect our planet.
