Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Since May 2021.
Why did you choose to go carbon neutral?
We feel it is of the upmost importance that we do all we can to mitigate our emissions in both our business and our personal lives, with 90% of our staff having children we need to be planning for their future and leading by example.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
The number one benefit for us is that we know we are operating our business in an environmentally responsible manner, we get the added benefits of reduced electrical bills, staff engagement and satisfaction and we feel we are providing a large value add for our clients.
What offset projects do you support?
A biodiversity project in Australia and a wind farm project in China.
Why did you choose these projects?
We chose the Yarra Yarra Biodiversity Project as it is the only gold standard project available in Australia at present, we chose this project as it is local and also provides opportunities for the Indigenous communities in these areas.
How can consumers support you?
Consumers can support Greenstar by choosing to work with like minded organisations such as us.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
We have replaced all lighting with efficient LED options and fitted solar to our offices early this year.
We are actively looking at efficient vehicle options and will be purchasing green power for the gap between our solar usage and electricity requirements.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
Our advice would be to start on the path to certification. If we make carbon neutral the new normal then we can really make a difference.
