Olinda Spring Water
Olinda Spring Water provides spring water solutions to various industries, worksites, events, residential premises and offices Australia wide.
One of our fundamental philosophies is promoting “low water kms”. By sourcing our spring water locally we are encouraging consumers to make conscious choices with the products they purchase. We also promote the returnable bottle, which is a substitute for single use plastics.
Our spring water is sourced locally from a sustainable aquifer and we are actively working towards reducing and minimising our environmental impact.
“We are a small family run business and Climate Active has provided us an opportunity to contribute to the climate solution.”
Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Since January 2021.
Why did you choose to go carbon neutral?
Olinda Spring Water has made it our priority to be leaders in our industry, by providing a spring water product and service with a zero carbon footprint. We believe reducing greenhouse gas emissions should be the direction and responsibility of every business in Australia.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
Calculating our carbon footprint has made us realise our impact on the environment and identified areas of improvement within our business. It has made us look into alternative strategies that have a lower carbon footprint. With the view of carbon reduction, Olinda Spring Water will now only implement structures and changes that will continuously reduce our carbon emissions.
It also sends the right message to our stakeholders that we are an environment focused Australian owned company, who are proud to be certified by Climate Active.
What offset projects do you support?
An Australian native reforestation project and a wind farm project in China.
Why did you choose these projects?
The Australian native reforestation project is based in Southwest Australia. This region has been labelled one of 35 globally significant biodiversity hotspots (areas which have endemic plant species and less than 30% of its natural vegetation remaining). Olinda Spring Water wanted to support this project because the project has injected more than $8 million into the community, supporting 140 local businesses. It has generated new jobs for tree plantings, seed collection and integrated agricultural activities. It has provided casual employment and supported local indigenous communities. Five aboriginal heritage sites were discovered in the archaeological surveys and are now registered with the Department of Indigenous Affairs Registry. It has created wildlife habitats and the reintroduction of plants and animals.
How can consumers support you?
You can support us by choosing industries that support climate action, it is with your decisions that you can really make a difference to the future quality of our environment.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
Our future carbon reduction strategies will involve looking into solar energy for our operations, investigating electric vehicles for our transportation, and replacing inefficient equipment in our bottling facility.
What has been the impact of your action?
The encouragement we have received to date for being proactive in this space from our stakeholders has been extremely positive and overwhelming.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
We are a small family run business and Climate Active has provided us an opportunity to contribute to the climate solution. It has been an educating and enjoyable experience and we highly recommend this process for others.
