“Certification is an in depth process and takes time but ultimately it's good for your business and good for the planet.”
Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Since July 2020.
Why are you carbon neutral?
We wanted to become Carbon Neutral for a number of reasons. In addition to establishing a point of difference among our competitors, we also believe that we have a responsibility to the environmental given we spend almost all of our time in the outback of Western Australia.
What are the benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
The greatest benefits we have found so far, besides the satisfaction of doing something positive for the environment, was the cost analysis of our business operations. Given the type of business we are, the use of fossil fuels is inevitable. Unfortunately a number of our business costs negatively impact the environment and while these costs are unavoidable (diesel fuel and engine oils etc) they can be reduced when monitored and therefore managed closely.
What offset projects do you support?
A wind power project in India.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
- Installing solar panels
- Installing solar heating for hot water
- Replacing lights in office with LEDs
- Replacing personal use vehicles with fuel-efficient alternatives
- Offsetting flights
- Reducing waste to landfill, increase recycling
- Move to environmentally conscious print materials.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
Certification is an in depth process and takes time but ultimately it's good for your business and good for the planet.
