Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Since March 2021.
Why did you choose to go carbon neutral?
As a business at the forefront of climate action, operating sustainably is par for the course. Our clients expect it, our employees demand it and they deserve no less than excellence.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
TEM is founded on taking action on climate change, so achieving our carbon neutral certification demonstrates our unwavering commitment to transitioning to a net zero future.
What offset projects do you support?
A fire abatement project in Central Arnhem Land.
Why did you choose this project?
Arnhem Land in the Northern Territory is prone to extreme, devastating wildfires. These projects comprise an entirely Aboriginal-owned, not-for-profit carbon farming business created by Aboriginal Traditional Owners who utilise customary fire knowledge to accomplish landscape-scale fire management. We chose this project for its powerful social benefits: nurturing Indigenous culture, promoting training and employment while supporting Aboriginal people in returning to, remaining on and managing their country.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
As we have experienced in 2020, business has proven it can collaborate effectively through virtual meetings. We will continue utilising technology to reduce our travel emissions which represent a large part of our footprint.
We have consolidated our electricity to a single carbon neutral provider to further reduce our electricity emissions, are currently committed to 50% green power with the intention to increase this to 100%.
What has been the impact of your action?
Our people, systems and process deliver rigorous emissions calculations so, when it came to achieving our own carbon neutral goal, we applied the same level of exactitude. At 120 tonnes our footprint is relatively small, but the impact of its offset is powerful.
