Since December 2020.
Why did you choose to go carbon neutral?
Wilson Asset Management has a strong track record of actively making a difference in the community and we are committed to reducing our impact on the environment.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
A more consistent and active approach to managing our environmental impact within the business.
What offset projects do you support?
A Tiwi Islands savanna burning project.
Why did you choose this project?
We actively support the national reconciliation movement and are engaged with Reconciliation Australia to establish a Reconciliation Action Plan for the business. Combining this initiative with our carbon neutral strategy enables us to make a greater impact within our business and the community.
How can the community support you?
We are working on initiatives to engage our shareholders, for example electing to opt-out of receiving printed materials.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
As an organisation, Wilson Asset Management is reviewing initiatives to reduce our carbon footprint. Examples include becoming a paper free office, providing employees with reusable keep cups and glass water bottles to reduce waste, walk to work days, and a carbon neutral committee.
What has been the impact of your action?
Becoming carbon neutral has increased our staff’s awareness of adopting more sustainable practises across the business and we look forward to continuing to assess our impact and achieve goals beyond our first year.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
We all have a responsibility to be good corporate citizens and take our climate into consideration. We would encourage other businesses to engage all staff and create a committee to establish a carbon neutral strategy and identify specific goals to work towards reducing their carbon footprint.
