We chose to become carbon neutral as it allows Bank of Queensland to contribute to Australia’s transition to a lower carbon economy and introduces accountability for BOQ’s impact on the environment.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
The carbon neutral certification allows Bank of Queensland to understand its footprint and work with employees, customers and suppliers on ways to lower our impact.
What offset projects do you support?
A fire abatement project in Australia and a solar power project in India.
Why did you choose these projects?
Bank of Queensland has procured offsets from projects that are carefully aligned with our values and sustainability strategy: projects with indigenous involvement; connections to local communities; and projects that supports BOQ’s role as an enabler to the transition to a low carbon future.
These projects allow BOQ to support economic diversification and enables Traditional Owners to build their families’ futures and sustainable livelihoods on a healthy country.

We pride ourselves on building long term customer relationships that are digitally enabled with a personal touch. We can reduce our footprint by moving to digital products and services.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
We are working to reduce our environmental footprint by choosing energy efficient buildings, committing to buy renewable electricity, and providing the products and services needed to help our customers through the transition to a low carbon economy.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
Climate Active certification shows that a business is taking real and verifiable actions to reduce climate change. The process allows organisations to really reflect on the impacts of their operational and supply chain partnering choices.
