“Becoming a carbon neutral organisation will continue us on our path towards creating a positive impact.”
Type of certification
How long have you been certified carbon neutral?
Since May 2021.
Why did you choose to go carbon neutral?
It is important for us to continually take positive steps towards doing our bit for the environment as well as the community, whether that’s local or international, so becoming a carbon neutral organisation will continue us on our path towards creating a positive impact.
What are the anticipated benefits of your carbon neutral certification?
As Climate Active registered consultants, we work extensively with businesses assisting them in becoming certified carbon neutral under the program. It is important for us to lead by example and ‘practice what we preach’, so becoming a carbon neutral organisation will benefit us in helping to continually deliver at a high standard to our clients.
What offset projects do you support?
A cook stove project in Malawi.
Why did you choose this project?
The funds from the sale of the credits under this project will go towards not only expanding the project, but supporting other community co-benefits such as fish conservation, tree planting, forest conservation, education and health care services.
How can the community support you?
With a team of Climate Active registered consultants, we can continually support the community and consumers in becoming certified under the program.
What else are you doing to reduce emissions?
Encourage use of public transport wherever possible.
Our office has five bins to segregate waste including battery recycling.
Travel is limited to as a required basis with video conferencing facilities used widely.
A ‘switch-off’ mentality is widely adopted by staff encompassing IT equipment, lighting and air conditioning.
What has been the impact of your action?
As 2019 is our first year of reporting, we are yet to benchmark improvements, however travel has more than halved and public transport is exclusively used by staff to commute to and from the office.
What advice would you give to a business considering certification?
By voluntarily choosing to be part of a program backed by the Australian Government, it allows for greater transparency for businesses wanting to become carbon neutral and take positive environmental action.
Pursuing carbon neutrality will derive unintended benefits such as improvement in business productivity, attract new customers and improve staff retention.
